Foster Street Is Gold (A Poem from New Yorker, Darrell Herbert)

Foster Street Is Gold

Darrell Herbert is a rising young poet that currently attends Utica College in New York.  Check out his most recent poem about Foster Street.

Foster street is gold, I guess this is how life is supposed to go
Very close, make a joke
We're closer than the secrets that you already know
Tai Chi day, hooray
Tell them the news before they sleep
Okay, let's seek, tell the pastor he could preach
But, we no longer speak, it's not like me to have friends back in the East
Most of them just fall victim to the game, drugs, or these streets
I was in the studio recording music while you made the beats
